Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum

The Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum is one of the leading collections of African American art, media and literature in Los Angeles and the United States. The collection contains over two million rare books, films, documents, photographs, artifacts, and works of art related to the history and culture of African Americans in the United States, with a special focus on Southern California and the American West. Exhibits of African American history and art are on display and the museum is open regularly for visitors. MCLM is widely regarded as an essential and vital part of the African American landscape of Los Angeles.
