ildren and Education Committee decided at an extraordinary meeting on 22 May to terminate School and SFO offers on one of Sdr. Bjert Central School's two departments - Children's Universe in Sdr. Stenderup - per. 1 August 2018. The Children's Universe's children's offers continue, but as a department of a local daycare institution.
Even though the closure does not come unexpectedly, it is still something that affects everyone - both children, staff and parents. School children from the Children's University and Sdr. Bjert must be mixed and all children in the school will get new classmates. The closure means that, in total, 9 positions must be suspended at Sdr. Bjert Central School in SFO and schooling, so the closure also affects all the staff at school, SFO and kindergarten at Sdr. Bjert Central School. Our parents get a task of backing up, supporting and helping to make the transition process as easy as possible for all.
In the school board we have established the policy that children from the Children's Universe will be placed in existing classes in Sdr. Bjert. We have done that because of the small children who are learning to go to school - nobody, neither children from the Children's Universe or Sdr. Bjert benefits from a complete breakdown of the classes.
The principle therefore becomes that teachers and educators from Sdr. Bjert and Barnuniverset collaborate to make a classification of the children from the Children's Universe so that they are placed in the existing class together with the friends from the Children's Universe, which give the best classes. It also means that two classes in the same grade can get different sizes if the staff assess that it provides the best ranking of the children from the children's universe. The policy has been made with the goal of creating the well-being of all our children - not to spare anyone to others and there was broad consensus on the board that it was the best solution.
Finally, the school board has tried to influence the decision to close the Children's Universe. We have seen it as our mission to defend and preserve both of the two fantastic and good departments, such as Sdr. Bjert Central School still consists of. We think - as we have also pointed out - that the Children's Universe has had an unfair hard life, where there has been regular uncertainty about the continued existence of the Children's Universe from government and politicians.
