In Sennels there has been a school since 1727 when the man of Ullerupgård built a schoolhouse just north of the church. Here there should be a school for all the children of the parish, but in 1831 a so-called bishop was built in Hov, so the Hovbags relaxed for the long trip to Sennels. The schoolhouse in Sennels was later extended and rebuilt, eventually it included 2 classrooms and 2 teacher apartments and could accommodate a 4-class school. Gymnastics were held in the open air or in the assembly house "Thomasminde", built in 1910, a little northeast of the school.
In Hov School there was a lone teacher, in Sennel's school a first-class teacher and second teacher. Such was the schooling of the school until the 1950s, when it became modern with central schools. In Sennels a new school was built north of the city, and in 1955 the two old schools were closed. Now all the parish children should go to the new school with its 7 classes and more teachers.
At the municipal assembly in 1970, Sennel's school commission was closed, after which the school was administered under the Cultural Management of Thisted Municipality. During the 1970s and 1980s, 200 new homes were built around the old town of Sennel; The population in the parish grew from about 900 to 1300, and of course the children's number also went on. In between, it became necessary to create more than 7 classes, and the first teacher became a school inspector. The school's buildings were continuously expanded, most recently by a major extension in 1981; Later in 1987 the sports hall was built in connection with the school.
In 1978 a kindergarten class was established, and in 1979 the care scheme, which since then developed into Sennels Kindergarten, Musvitten and Blåmejsen and the leisure cave, began.
When Sennel's Central School began in 1955, the head teacher was AS Madsen, who was employed at Sennel's school from 1923 until he retired in 1961. Subsequently, first-time teacher Halvor Christensen, who applied for another position in 1969, was replaced by Jørgen Jørgensen, which was replaced by school inspector Kaj Larsen in 1995. In December 2011, Peter Frandsen joined the school leader.
