Welcome to the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum of Michigan Tech, the only museum in the US dedicated to minerals, rocks, and fossils. Established in 1957, the museum is home to a collection of over 15,000 specimens from around the world and includes mineral specimens from some of the rarest locations in the world. The museum hosts numerous exhibits featuring incredible specimens from all over the world, including such coveted collections as the world's oldest fossilized trilobite and one of the first meteorites ever discovered.
Located on the Michigan Tech campus at 1404 Sharon Ave. in Houghton, visitors can explore the museum's collection in its spectacularly designed galleries. From display cases filled with colorful minerals to interactive exhibits that allow visitors to learn about their favorite specimens, the museum offers something for everyone. The museum also hosts special events throughout the year like lectures and seminars on topics like collecting and petrology.
