Agawam Historical & Fire House

Agawam Historical & Fire House, located at 35 Elm St in Agawam, MA is a museum like no other. The museum is devoted to preserving and promoting the history of Agawam and surrounding areas. From the beginnings of Agawam as a settlement to present day, Agawam Historical & Fire House showcases the past and present of this vibrant community.

The museum showcases a variety of artifacts that tell the stories of Agawam’s history. Visitors can view tools and equipment used for farming, weaving, blacksmithing, and other trades, as well as a unique firefighting room that includes a Civil War era pump engine and the first motorized fire truck in Agawam. There’s also a display of uniforms, hats, and helmets that have been worn by firefighters over the years.

In addition to permanent displays, the museum also hosts a number of events throughout the year. Special programs such as lectures on local history, demonstrations on early farming methods, and educational films on fire safety are all available to visitors. There are also special “open house” days that show off the facility and its collections, as well as family-friendly activities such as costume parades, hayrides, and scavenger hunts.

Agawam Historical & Fire House is open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM during the weeks and from 8 AM - 8 PM on weekends. Visitors can take advantage of free parking in the adjacent lot and pay an admission fee per person or group to gain access to all parts of the museum.
