You can come face to face with numerous reptiles including lizards, snakes and turtles as well as frogs and salamanders in their own specialized habitats. In addition to these awe inspiring creatures, there is even an introduction to exotic species like Komodo dragons and Gila monsters.
At the zoo one can explore further and find some of the more exciting creatures of the animal kingdom such as the majestic lions and tigers. Lions and tigers may be found on the African Safari Exhibit where they coexist peacefully alongside rhinoceros and antelope. Here you can also find a large burial ground that houses a wide array of endangered species such as black rhinos and orangutans. It’s an incredible representation of animals that are so close to becoming extinct in the wild.
Not surprisingly, Alameda Park Zoo offers many fun activities for children too! From interactive activities such as animal petting, arts & crafts and stand-up shows to live interactive animal displays with experienced trainers, there is plenty for kids to explore and learn about.
