When I attended classes in the late nineteenth century, Maryville was an idyllic spot that provided a wonderful environment for learning and growing.
The college was an oasis of self-discovery in an increasingly chaotic world. Here, we learned not only the skills that would come in handy in our future endeavors, but also the importance of being kind and accepting of those around us. We shared meals together at the student center and often spent our afternoons in the nearby woods, exploring nature.
The college was forward-thinking in its approach to education from the start and had already adopted coeducation decades before most other colleges even considered doing so. And no matter how much our society changes or technology advances, Maryville College always prides itself on providing students with a superior education — one that emphasizes critical thinking, strong leadership skills, and a global perspective.
Maryville College certainly gave me some of the best experiences of my life and continues to be a source of great pride for me and thousands of other alumni — a place where meaningful relationships are formed and lifelong memories are made.
