Edward Norton, born on August 18th 1969, is an American actor, director, and producer. He is one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation and among the few contemporary actors to have received both an Oscar and an Emmy nomination. Norton's career has spanned over two decades, with roles in some of the most acclaimed films of the 1990s and 2000s, including Primal Fear (1996), American History X (1998), Fight Club (1999), and The Illusionist (2006).
Norton was born in Boston, Massachusetts to a progressive middle class family. He attended Harvard University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in history. After college, Norton studied acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York City, where he trained with some of the most renowned acting teachers of the 20th century.
Norton's breakout role came in 1996 when he starred in Primal Fear opposite Richard Gere. The film earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
