About Naropa University

It was a typical spring day in Boulder, Colorado, when I heard the whisper of Naropa University. A small, private liberal arts college nestled in the heart of the city, it was a place of wonder, magic, and possibility.

The college was founded in 1974 by spiritual leader and teacher Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He sought to create an environment where students could pursue the study of contemplative disciplines such as Buddhism, psychology, and creative arts. He envisioned Naropa as an educational home for those seeking to explore the depths of their own spiritual and creative potential.

The college is comprised of five schools: the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, the Graduate School of Transpersonal Psychology, the Naropa Institute for Religious Studies, the School of the Arts, and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. Each school offers unique courses of study that focus on a variety of topics, from literature and philosophy to psychology and meditation.

Naropa is one of those rare places where students can immerse themselves in a vibrant intellectual and spiritual community while also pursuing their academic goals. The faculty is comprised of renowned scholars, authors, and artists who have dedicated their lives to exploring the depths of knowledge and understanding.

The campus is full of surprises as well. From its Tibetan-style architecture to its breathtaking views of the nearby Rocky Mountains, Naropa's environment is nothing short of magical. Whether you take a stroll through its lush gardens or take in a performance at its theater space, it’s clear that this is a place where anything is possible.

At Naropa University, students have the opportunity to explore their creative passions and spiritual pursuits in a supportive environment. With its unique blend of academics, creativity, and spirituality, Naropa is an ideal place for those seeking to explore their potential. If you’re looking for a place to discover yourself and connect with others on a deeper level, then Naropa may be just the place for you. So come explore this magical corner of Boulder—you just might find something unexpected! Take action today by visiting Naropa’s website to learn more about the university and its offerings.
