Edward John David Redmayne, born 1982, is a British actor and model who has gained worldwide renown for his portrayal of iconic characters in film, theater, and television. Born in London, England, Redmayne was raised alongside two siblings in a close-knit family. His mother was a housewife, while his father was a successful businessman.
Redmayne attended Eton College and then Trinity College, Cambridge where he studied history of art. During this time he also developed a passion for the performing arts and joined the University's dramatic society.
