The African American Heritage Preservation Group was founded with the mission of ensuring that everyone has access to the same history. We strive to make this museum an inclusive place for people of all backgrounds and experiences to come together and learn about African American culture. To this end, we offer plenty of ways for visitors to demonstrate their knowledge, such as hands-on activities, educational talks, and interactive presentations.
At our museum, visitors can explore the vastness of the African American experience. We have interactive exhibits that teach visitors important facts about slavery, the civil rights movement, the Black Power movement, and other topics related to African American heritage. Our special collections feature original manuscripts, recordings, photographs, and artifacts from different points in history. Visitors can also listen to interviews with prominent figures in African American culture and watch videos on various topics related to the African American experience.
The African American Heritage Preservation Group believes strongly in education and outreach. We host events throughout the year such as lectures and cultural celebrations that invite local communities to come together to learn more about African American history. We also offer educational programs for students of all ages, as well as group tours and teacher resources.
Not only do we strive to provide an inclusive space for learning and exploration at our museum, we also offer support to members of the African American community. Our services include providing resources for civil rights initiatives, supporting local non-profits that are dedicated to preserving African American culture and heritage, and advocating for increased representation of African Americans in public education systems.
