The American Classic Arcade Museum (ACAM) is a unique museum located in Laconia, New Hampshire. ACAM is home to a massive collection of classic arcade games, ranging from old arcade classics such as Pac-Man and Galaga, to more modern hits such as Donkey Kong and Street Fighter II. Visitors to the museum can experience the nostalgia of being a kid in an arcade, while enjoying a wide variety of gaming experiences.
The museum itself is housed in a dedicated building located on Endicott Street North in Laconia. This 5,000 square foot building houses more than 150 classic games from the ‘70s and ‘80s era. Visitors can take their pick from a variety of pinball machines, video games, and racing games. Visitors can also take advantage of a selection of console systems, including the Atari 2600 and Nintendo NES. There’s something for everyone at ACAM!
The museum was founded by Jody Dankberg, an avid classic gamer and collector. Jody had been collecting classic arcade games since the ‘90s, but it was not until 2014 that he decided to open up the museum. He wanted to create a place where others could experience the same nostalgia he felt when playing classic arcades.
Jody’s passion for classic arcades is clear when you walk through the museum. He only curates games that he personally knows and loves, so you can expect to find some of his favorites like Defender and Robotron among others. Jody also maintains all of the machines himself, ensuring that visitors have the best possible gaming experience.
It’s not just about classic arcades at ACAM. The museum also offers a wide variety of special events throughout the year, including tournaments and theme nights. Visitors are encouraged to cosplay their favorite characters and join in on themed activities or simply try their luck at beating the high scores on some of the most beloved arcade games of all time.
