At F.I.R.S.T., we focus on building a strong foundation for our students through teaching them technical audio engineering knowledge, as well as how to set up, mix and produce high-quality audio productions. This includes having students gain an understanding of studio signal flow, sound theory and sound design, as well as having them learn the principles of acoustics, audio post-production, software mastering, editing and mixing, along with the fundamentals of using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software in order to create a musical masterpiece or elaborate sound engineering project.

It’s not all technical knowledge though - we also make sure to expose our students to the creative side of audio engineering and music production by providing them with opportunities to record their own material as part of their coursework. This includes exclusive access to our full recording studio for our music production classes. Here, students learn firsthand how to apply the knowledge they’ve gained in the classroom through hands-on experience bringing their own musical visions to life from start to finish. We believe in providing our students with the best educational experience possible, so we’re proud to offer an excellent faculty of experienced professionals in addition to our innovative lab spaces and top-of-the-line equipment. We have lecturers who have years of industry experience, hold an impressive list of music industry credits and awards, and have earned the respect and admiration of some of today’s biggest recording stars such as Bon Iver, Jay Z, Drake and more!
