About The University of Texas at Dallas

It was a humid midsummer morn in the sleepy town of Richardson, Texas, when the University of Texas at Dallas first stirred to life. The University was the pride of many people living in the area, and was a source of much excitement when it opened its doors.

The grounds were filled with students wearing the school colors, maroon and white, along with professors smartly dressed in academic robes for the opening ceremonies. Speeches were given by dignitaries, and there was plenty of fanfare as well as smiles and laughter from everyone as they celebrated what was called “the dawning of a new era” for the University.

Atop the entrance to UTD, there was an impressive statue. It depicted Lady Wisdom with her hand outstretched; a reminder that the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom would be a priority for all who attended the University.

Those who attended UTD soon found out that there was much more to it than simply academic study. Its campus was vibrant and full of life. Sports teams were formed to compete against nearby universities as well as schools from across the nation. Clubs were formed that encouraged students to explore different facets of science, technology, and art. Furthermore, seminars and interactive activities were hosted in different languages to encourage global understanding among those attending. UTD also took part in local activities such as fundraisers and charity drives, helping to make Richardson even more of a desirable place to live.

Over the years, the University’s reputation grew to include not only academic excellence but also a dedication to building leaders and innovators who can make a difference in their communities. And today, UTD is a leader in providing an exceptional learning experience for its students.
