Universidad Adventista de las Antillas - a world-class school

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. At Universidad Adventista de las Antillas, in Carr 106 Km 2.2 Int, Mayagüez, 00680, Puerto Rico in US, we were striving to excel and define our own future. We wanted an education that was not only academically rigorous, but meaningful—an education that would prepare us for our future.

At the same time, too many of our peers lacked resources and support to reach their academic goals. Too many of our fellow students felt lost in the system and excluded from opportunities they deserved. It was a time of great hope and uncertainty; a time that would ultimately shape our lives and the future of education in Puerto Rico.

In that context, Universidad Adventista de las Antillas sought to bridge the gap between cultural heritage and academic success. From its very beginning, the school had a vision to create a community that nurtured students from diverse perspectives and backgrounds. With its commitment to an engaging environment where diversity of opinions was valued, the school had an immediate impact on local students from all walks of life. It quickly earned the reputation of being an innovative school with a unique culture that students could call their own.

At Universidad Adventista de las Antillas we focused on an individualized education, furthering learning through enrichment programs, study abroad initiatives, and collaborative projects. We encouraged civic engagement by offering courses to increase awareness on current social issues relevant to our community and building student organizations focused on creating positive change.

Through our commitment to education and social progress in Puerto Rico, we made sure to make our voices heard when it came to policy development or any initiatives concerning our community. When the time came for us to graduate, we did it, proud of having taken part in something so much bigger than ourselves, an opportunity to bring educational opportunities to our peers.

In many ways, Universidad Adventista de las Antillas is a testament to how a community united behind its ideals can be steadfast in its commitments and make a lasting difference in the lives of its students. We are proud of what we have achieved over all these years as alumni and now we strive for other communities to replicate our example with more initiatives for access to education for everyone.
