University of Guam - a world-class school

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times at the University of Guam. The University, a beacon of higher education located on University Drive in Mangilao, put forth a mighty effort to combine knowledge, resources, and enthusiasm to create an unforgettable atmosphere for its students.

From the beginning of its operations in 1952, the University of Guam has offered numerous courses and degree programs with a focus on excellence and student success. The faculty and staff work to create a positive, student-centered learning environment — one where students are supported in the pursuit of their academic and professional goals.

The campus is alive with activity. Throughout the year, students are engaged in events that provide networking opportunities and entertainers from around the world. It’s a place where students build relationships, share ideas, and get creative. With its pride taken in its modern and spacious facilities, students have access to many resources such as its library system, computer labs, recreation center and more.

Despite their best efforts over the years, the University of Guam faces some difficult times. Much like all island communities, the University is faced with a depleting budget due to the lack of resources available. Without the proper financial support from its leadership and legislators, the University could be faced with an uncertain future if not adequately provided for. Despite these storms, however, the University’s commitment to its mission continues to stay strong.

The bright flame of inspiration still flickers on Campus. Through it all, students remain hard at work while continuing to strive for excellence — despite any financial challenges or set-backs along their journey. Asides from academics, many students come here to gain culture, knowledge and new friendships that will carry them through life’s toughest challenges.

No one should face these challenges alone and here at the University of Guam, no one does! Not only do faculty and staff provide support services throughout their schooling but many respected organizations also run supportive initiatives such as food pantries and airport pick ups for international students at little or no cost.

Every day is a new opportunity to rise up and lift ourselves, our families, and our communities up above our current circumstances. Each passing semester brings us closer to achieving our goals – whatever they may be!
