At the cross-roads of history stands a heroic symbol of our country, The very own and esteemed Virginia Military Institute. Established in 1839, Virginia Military Institute is located in Lexington, VA. It was founded by an act of the Virginia General Assembly to provide citizens access to a military style education and is a renowned public military college.
It has grown from the initial 137 cadets to nearly 1,600 cadets from all 50 states and several foreign countries. VMI has embraced its motto “Ad Proelium!” which means “To the Fight”, and lives by its creed of “Duty, Honor and Self-Discipline” - setting itself apart from the other higher education organizations.
VMI has routinely forged the path for excellence. Its academic programs are highly respected. The Math, Science, Business and Engineering departments have all rewarded its students with excellent grades, recognitions and awards. VMI also offers extracurricular activities like Military Science, Music organizations and Cadet Clubs - as well as athletic opportunities in both national and conference leagues.
