It was a cold winter day, and the snow was beginning to fall. The roads were quiet and the streets were empty on this cold winter morning at Spokane Community College.
The College had been a part of the Spokane valley since 1880, when it was founded by a group of visionary community members. It had grown from a small college with a few dozen students, to one of the largest schools in Washington State. Even with its growth, Spokane Community College still retained its sense of community and its commitment to providing quality education to all its students.
As I walked across the campus I felt the warmth from the bustling activity of hundreds of students going about their day. At the entrance to every classroom, eager young minds gathered around to talk and debate the topics from last night’s lecture. In the library, I observed dedicated students studying for upcoming exams or reading for personal enrichment.
I was overwhelmed by the energy and enthusiasm coming from all directions. Everywhere I looked there was evidence of the College’s commitment to both learning and service. Clubs, organizations and student government were doing great work that benefitted both students and the Spokane community.
As I walked around I couldn’t help but be impressed by all that Spokane Community College had achieved over the years. It had become an institution respected for its academic excellence, and one that provided real opportunity to people from all walks of life.
Spokane Community College is an inspiring place, full of energy and commitment to providing quality education for all who seek it. Today, more than ever, it stands as a beacon of hope for those looking to make a better life for themselves, their families, and their community.
