Zane State College - a world-class school

It was a time of much anticipation in the town of Zanesville, Ohio. After years of hard work and dedication, Zane State College had finally been granted approval to open its doors to serve the community. At long last, the college’s mission of offering quality higher education, advanced career training, and comprehensive services to students of all ages was about to take shape.

The college’s founding members were mostly local business leaders, who had been inspired by the struggles of the people in their community. They wanted to provide a chance for underprivileged students to better their lives through higher education, and so they set out to build what would become the college’s legacy – the opportunity for change.

Since its opening in 1966, Zane State College has been a shining beacon for the people of Zanesville and beyond. Not only does it provide a wide range of Associate’s and Bachelor degree programs, it is also home to one of the most diverse student populations in the region.

The college is also renowned for its commitment to student success by providing exceptional instruction and support services such as financial aid, career counseling, and academic advising. Such services have been vital in helping many students realize their educational dreams, while also supporting their career aspirations.

The spirit of community and collaboration that characterizes Zane State College have enabled it to make great strides over the past fifty-five years, including when the college began offering online classes in 2017. This new format, in addition to traditional classes, has made college much more accessible for students who otherwise may not have been able to attend class due to personal or financial challenges.

It is no wonder then why Zane State College is viewed as such an important asset by its students and its community as a whole. It is this same spirit that drives the faculty, staff and administrators of the college every day to continue building bridges between students from all walks of life and providing them with resources necessary for success.
