The American Film Institute Conservatory has been a hub of creativity and entertainment since its foundation in 1969. Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, this institution of higher education is a leader in the production of entertainment and the advancement of creative content.
The AFI Conservatory houses both residential and online degree programs in six different departments: Cinematography, Editing, Producing, Production Design, Screenwriting and Directing. Each program is two-year commitment, offering students one-on-one instruction in their chosen craft as well as a broad film education. With over 200 educators and mentors – many of which are Academy Award winners – the AFI Conservatory provides an invaluable source of creativity, inspiration and knowledge to its students.
The AFI conservatory also has an impressive completion rate; over 90 percent of graduates go on to have their films accepted in major festivals world-wide or to be hired for Hollywood films, TV series and commercials. The conservatory also provides practical training in the form of student workshops conducted on campus and at various locations around Los Angeles. Through these workshops, students gain experience from real-world filmmaking and production sets while being mentored by industry professionals.
