Topeka's first building is the historic Free State Capitol on the Kansas Territory. Served as the first Kansas Statehouse, 1863-1869. The colorful outdoor mural depicts the Dispersion of the Free State Legislature in 1856. Listed by the Network to Freedom and National Register of Historic Places.
