A National Historic Landmark owned and operated by the APHN (Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches), Melrose contains nine buildings including the African House, Yucca House, and Big House. Many authors, historians and artists resided and worked here, including renowned primitive artist Clementine Hunter.
