Ronda Rousey: From Birth to Icon

The world-renowned fighter Ronda Rousey was born in 1987 in Riverside, California. Since then, she's become a household name and inspiration to many.

Rousey began developing her remarkable martial arts abilities from the age of 11 when she started Judo classes. She excelled quickly and soon achieved the status of a black belt. Rousey had an impressive amateur career, competing for the U.S.A at the 2008 Olympics where she won a bronze medal.

Her success as an amateur athlete led Rousey to a successful professional career. She’s won titles in both the Strikeforce and Ultimate Fighting Championship organizations.

Rousey also impressively jumped into Hollywood and starred in movies such as The Expendables 3 and Furious 7, while also appearing in television shows like Entourage and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Additionally, she’s been a part of several magazine covers, including those of Maxim, ESPN The Magazine and Vanity Fair.

Rousey is also a New York Times Best-selling author with her book, My Fight/Your Fight, which details her life story from pre-teen years till now.

Rousey has stretched more boundaries and earned more respect than most people will ever know. She was the first female champion signed with UFC and is credited for being the straw that stirred the gender equality debate in the octagon.

Recently, Rousey launched her own family app called "Familio" for people to stay connected no matter the distance. With this app, you can create calendars for upcoming events and activities, assign tasks amongst family members and more so that everyone can still be actively involved in their loved ones lives no matter how busy life may get.
