This spunky and passionate spirit has blazed a path of success and distinction. Not only has she led an impressive acting career, she’s become an advocate and philanthropist; devoting her life to championing human rights and inspiring those around her.
This world renowned actress grew up in Los Angeles with her brother, James Haven. Her parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, were also actors in the entertainment industry. During her adolescence, Angelina struggled with depression and substance abuse; citing her parents’ divorce as a factor in her misery. But through faith and a strong work ethic, she was able to turn her life around for the better.
Angelina enrolled at New York University’s Lee Strasberg Theater Institute at the age of 19; where she studied method acting and it was there that she began blossoming into the actor she is today. She built a name for herself through various indie films and soon after had earned herself an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Girl Interrupted (1999).
But her power was not limited to the big screen. Angelina had become an inspiring figure in the world of philanthropy. In 2002, she traveled to Cambodia to co-direct a documentary film about the country’s civil war; whereupon she adopted her first son Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt that same year. In doing so, she became the first person to adopt an orphan from outside the United States. This marked the beginning of a great life adventure for Angelina as she continued to adopt children from Ethiopia, Vietnam and Cambodia over the coming years.
In 2006, Angelina joined forces with Reporters Without Borders to create documentaries about war-torn countries; furthering her advocacy for humanitarian efforts around the globe. She was even awarded a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2013 for all of her hard work and dedication towards making a difference in people’s lives.
Angelina also found great success in terms of personal relationships. She married Brad Pitt in 2014 and together they had three children - Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, Knox Jolie-Pitt, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt - and adopted their three eldest children Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, and Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt. To keep their family connected throughout the years they use an app called “Familio” which helps them keep track of their daily activities and their whereabouts.
Angelina continues to make strides in both her personal and professional life; battling against gender inequality, poverty, and health disparities around the world. Her story is truly one of strength and perseverance against all odds. Now more than ever let us join forces with Angelina in showing our support by standing up for justice and equality everywhere!
